System Overview

Controlled Levels and Drainage Slopes

A correctly designed screed creates a smooth, stable and accurately levelled base for tiles, resin flooring, vinyl, carpet or approved timber finishes. In wet areas, it can also form the precise falls required to direct water toward outlets.

Substrate inspection, cleaning and repair before screed placement.
Datum points and guides establish accurate levels and drainage falls.
Controlled mixing, compaction, finishing and curing improve durability.

Floor Screeding / Cement-Sand Screed Works in Dubai

Floor screeding is the application of a cement-sand mortar layer over a prepared concrete substrate to create a smooth, level and durable base for the final floor finish. Screed can also be formed to accurate falls so that water drains correctly toward floor outlets in bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, terraces and other wet areas.

Thermal Guard Insulation Contracting LLC provides bonded, unbonded and floating screed works for residential, commercial and industrial projects, subject to the approved project build-up, thickness and performance requirements.

Description

A carefully mixed and placed cement-sand mortar layer used to correct concrete irregularities, establish finished floor levels, form drainage slopes and provide a stable base beneath tiles, resin flooring, vinyl, carpet or other approved finishes.

Application process
  1. Inspect the concrete substrate, screed thickness, finished levels and required drainage falls.
  2. Remove dust, laitance, oil, loose concrete and other contamination.
  3. Repair significant cracks, holes, honeycombs and weak areas.
  4. Set level markers, datum points and drainage-slope guides.
  5. Pre-dampen the concrete and apply a compatible bonding slurry or primer for bonded screed where required.
  6. Mix cement, graded sand, water and approved additives in the specified proportions.
  7. Place and compact the screed within the workable time.
  8. Strike off, level and finish the surface to the required tolerance and texture.
  9. Form or continue movement, isolation and control joints according to the approved layout.
  10. Protect and cure the screed properly to reduce rapid drying, cracking and shrinkage.
  11. Check the completed level, flatness, slope, strength and moisture condition before installing the final finish.
